Steve Turner was established in Los Angeles in 2008 with a mission to present unknown, emerging and diverse international artists. To have a vital, encouraging presence in Los Angeles, we frequently offer artists their first solo exhibition in the city. Of the many whom we have presented, nearly 90% had their Southern California debut with us. Beyond introducing unknown and diverse artists, we also seek artists who are conceptually rigorous, innovative and experimental. These attributes yield cutting-edge works that cover the spectrum of contemporary media, materials and processes. By presenting up to 27 exhibitions in our three gallery rooms and by participating in as many as ten art fairs each year, we have fostered the careers of many artists, some of whom have been invited to participate in biennials and others who have received solo museum exhibitions.
We inaugurated our publishing program in 2020 with two books on Kevin McNamee-Tweed (Ceramic Paintings and Tableaux Vivant).
A monograph on Linus Borgo is to be released in early 2023 and monographs on Jon Key and Jingze Du are now in production. Our first print editions, one by Drew Dodge and another by Jon Key were released in 2022.
